Jocelyn is a passionate missionary of financial empowerment through education. She began her financial services career as an advisor in 2004 with Securian Financial Services and later went on to work with Wells Fargo Advisors and Nationwide Financial. Her career has winded its way through large corporations and small, independent firms as well as nonprofits where she specialized in charitable gift planning.
Jocelyn previously led outreach efforts for the State of New Mexico 529 college savings plan and is the former owner of ClariFinancial, LLC, a New Mexico-based financial planning firm. Most recently, she worked with an independent financial services firm in Arizona where she focused on women’s retirement planning.
“I am proud to be a part of the B$D team and able to offer clients a refreshingly different experience from typical financial firms. Our focus is on what truly matters—integrity, empathy and stewardship.”
Over the years, Jocelyn has led a multitude of educational workshops and webinars, written articles for financial media and served as a guest financial expert on TV and radio. With her genuine and infectious enthusiasm, she excels in communicating complex and intimidating financial concepts in an easier-to-understand, relatable and motivating way.
Jocelyn is a Certified Retirement Counselor (CRC®) and is working on achieving the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation. A native of Philadelphia, she has a multidisciplinary Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations and communications from Temple University and joyfully relocated to the Southwest in 2013.
Jocelyn is the mother of two teenagers and two rescued mutts, and is a sympathetic member of the “Sandwich Generation.” She understands the compounded stress of caring for young children and aging parents at the same time and in her case, dealing with a parent’s deterioration from Alzheimer’s disease and going through divorce during a pandemic, while maintaining a meaningful career and making time for personal wellness. She loves being able to help others who are also juggling the many demands of life and provide some relief.
Jocelyn splits her time between Phoenix with her children and New Mexico where she feels most rooted. Her interests include hiking, camping, travel, yoga, meditation, non-fiction, musical theater, golf and baking.
JOCELYN’S WORST MONEY DECISION: Feeding into the mass frenzy in 2007-2008 and buying a home with my then-spouse that was well beyond our means and left us underwater in our mortgage in less than a year. Don’t let the noise around you drown out your better judgment!
JOCELYN’S BETTER MONEY DECISION: Opting out of social media to avoid wasting so much time, energy and $$$ on unnecessary and unhealthy consumption.
